Tech News (WEEK 3 IS OUT)

Ok So im starting a tech news to keep forum members involved in the world of tech So im trying to make one every 1-2 weeks. Takes a while to get a topic and stuff so if i am a few days late, im sorry so this week


Week 1 (December 02, 2009)

So this week in tech we have a few topics:

Intel Core i7s being pushed
The New ATI HD 5800's
Windows 7

Ok to start off the new Intel Core i7 are being pushed. They are going over
clocked to 3.86 GHz. These are one fast Prossesers! There default speed
is only 3.20 GHz and 3.33GHz! These are doing to improve gaming by alot!
Also everyday taskes will take much less time! it shows you can open
the internet in under 3 secs! thats one speedey thing. Also they have
Plans off taking it to 4 GHz or more! The Intel Core i7 is trying to
spend as much time as the worlds fastest core as it can. but AMD is
creeping up with there Black Editon AMD Pheoim going up to 3.4 Ghz and around 3.7 GHz OC'ed.

Moving on to our next topic, ATI has put out a new card called the
Ati HD 5840,5850, and 5870. This can be Overclocked to take gaming to the
next level! With some on the most demanding games you can still
crank it up to maxed out settings and still get 30-300 FPS. On the new
Call of duty you can get around 180 FPS with this card! This card is
going to be around for a long time, because of the groud breaking tech
it uses. It supports the brand new Directx 11. Directx 11 makes everything
look much realer, not like a fancy world like Directx 10 gave us. This
has some marjor improvements but also some bugs along with it. I would
stay away from it for around another 3 or 4 months to see how things
go with it. This card is great for any hard core gamers! and very easy
to install if you are a go it yourself person, but there is some problem
with the sound cards if you have a XP or older OS.

Now our last topic for the day! The brand new Windows 7. It was released
a few weeks ago but some are not upgrading because Windows is adding
new stuff they could cause problems. One is the super bar. Easy to use
and a new fresh feel to windows. There is a lot you can do with this
and i could spend hours telling you, but i am only going to tell you some
stuff that you can do with it. One is you got your windows Icon, very
flashy if you move your mouse over it, and you can acess all your
programs from it. Also there is a quick launch tray, when you hover your
mouse over it, it will show a preview of that window, and indival windows
are now gone, its all in the quick launch bar. If you ask me it looks
a little bit cleaner. There is also a new startup screen for it it now
shows bits of colors coming together and making a flag with the windows
colors. There is also a snap thing if you snap a window to the right
it fills up half the screen to the right and the same thing for the
left. if you drag it to the middle it makes the windows full screen.
We also see windows 7 is much lighter then Vista, In my test
We can run windows 7 with 1GHz,256mb of ram, and 12 mb card.
Thats half the specs it takes to run windows vista. Windows 7
is very good, but I would give it another mouth for windows to
fix any problems it may have with it

Welcome back to the next tech addtion! This week our topics will be

Dell Mini 3 SmartPhone
Gaming Console Price Drops
Intel Core i7 4GHz

Dell has plans on going into the phone world. They will be making a phone
called the Dell Mini 3 Smartphone. This phone will have 3G and run on
China Mobile. China Mobile was one of the first to have 3G and has over
500 million customers worldwide. This is going to be a touchscreen phone
No word when this will be released or the price.

This Year hoilday gaming console venders are lowering prices, they are
scared they might not sell enough this hoiday season. Here are where the
pricing stands:
Xbox 360: 199$
Wii: 199$
PS3: 299$

Im not sure why the PS3 is 299$ while the others are 200$, I would say that
the xbox is much better then the PS3 because of the Game choices the xbox
360 has and the xbox live chat and everything. I do think that sony is going
to fall behind in sales because of how lower the other 2 are about 100$ cheaper
But i do feel sony is doing this for a reason, because the PS3 is like a
all in one. Gaming,music,Web, blu-ray disk games and all that stuff.

Yea this week some people are pushing there Intel core i7 to 4GHz STABLE.
With watercooling, But you cannot overclock your Core I7 with stock cooling
a good water cooling could cost you around 100$-200$ but the extra power
your gettting can really come in handy for very CPU killing apps such
as Photoshop, or Final Cut Pro. But Dell and other companys say it
aviods your warrtney if you overclock and you fry your CPU.

How to find the PC that is right for you!
Good Tech gifts

Alot of people might end up overpaying for a PC with many programs they
will never use. Here are some tips you can do to find if the PC is right
for you.

Browsing the Web / Online games: You will not need a strong prosscer,
I would say a Pentium dual core.
and just need 2GB of ram. You can get these types of PC for around
300$-400$

Video editting: I would say a Intel core 2 duo with 4GB of ram, and
a decaited video card with 256 mb of ram or more. These go for around
700$.

Power apps (Run apps like photoshop smoothly). I would say a Intel Core 2
duo E8700 (3GHz) and around 4-5 GB of ram with a ATI HD 4350+.
These go for around 800$

casual Gaming. While this is a hard one. But for casual gaming as in lower
needing games. Such as COD 4. I would say a Intel Core 2 duo,4GB of ram,
and a ATI HD 4350.

Power gaming: Powering gaming is over the top type of game, Maxing out
any game you play. I would say a Intel core 2 Quad, Intel Core i5, or
Intel Core i7. 6gb of ram, and a ATI HD 4870 X2 or one ATI HD 5870.

While Christmas is on us once again, and everyone needs gift ideas

Whats an OS?

Operating System I guess??
Example: Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7, etc. Internet Explorer it your web browser, like Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.

oh. I have vista and Internext Explorer. EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW. =)

what is firefox?

Firefox is a browser, It is faster and some say better then Internet Exploder.

Internet Explorer and Firefox aren't the only web browsers either. There's more like Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, and many others.

Yeah, I was wondering that too.

I'm considering switching to AOL Broadband(hosted by Verizon). Would anyone reccommend it?

ONe thing I do know is that AOL is usually slower thna IE. You should try to get vista and IE. It's pretty nice.
