Sentimental Songs Empty Sentimental Songs

Post by Sir Gamealot Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:50 am

Title says it all. This is the place to post the song(s) that have a deeper meaning than "OMGWUTAGUDSONGLUL" to you. Post the song(and lyrics, if you want), and why it's special to you.
Wake Up - Arcade Fire
Something filled up my heart with nothing,
someone told me not to cry.
Now that I'm older, my heart is colder,
and I can see that it's a lie.

Children, wake up, hold your mistake up,
before they turn the summer into dust.
If children don't grow up, our bodies get bigger and our hearts get torn up.
We're just a million little gods turning every good thing to rust!
I guess we'll just have to ajust.

With my lightning bolts bolts a-glowing, I can't see where I am
going to be when the reaper reaches and touches my hand.

With my lightning bolts bolts a-glowing, I can't see where I am,
going.

With my lightning bolts bolts a-glowing, I can't see where I am,
going.

You better look out below!

This song is a 10/10 in my book. It's about how we are all taught as children to supress our emotions, and that we should come to terms with this fact as adults; otherwise, we come to see ourselves as "little gods," but become blinded to our fate by our own "power."

This has become one of my favorite songs, as it truly speaks of the society that I live in today, where humans seem to largely perceive themselves as the gods of the Earth, carrying out their will and carelessly "throwing lightning bolts."

Yes,yes I am. So we don't have to post lyrics eh?
Forever Young-Rod Stewart
If I ever have a kid im dedicating this song to it. It just talks about how things go by fast and how sweet it would be if we were all forever young, forever innocent.

This mah fav! Very Happy

The Fray - Little House

She doesn't look, she doesn't see
Opens up for nobody
Figures out, she figures out
Narrow line, she can't decide
Everything short of suicide
Never hurts, nearly works

Something is scratching it's way out
Something you want to forget about

A part of you that'll never show
You're the only one that'll ever know
Take it back when it all began
Take your time, would you understand
What it's all about
What it's all about

Something is scratching it's way out
Something you want to forget about
No one expects you to get up
All on your own with no one around

The reason I like this song is because of the music, but mostly on the parts I bold. It says about how many people think that if you have done something that changes your life to worse, no one expects you to stand on your feet, to handle and fix your mistakes.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams-Green Day

The name pretty much explains it. Basically puts into fewer words that the only person you can rely on in this world is you, if that even. And even when you thought everything was gonna be ok, usually trouble is coming around the corner...

Brandon Flowers - Jacksonville

Slow down your mind
Fill the unknown spaces with truth and light
If you can find the time, time seems so slow
Now we’re stuck here asking, where did it go?
(And where do we come from?)
And what are we here for?

But there we were looking out some country window
And although we had our problems, we were fine
The sky was blue and the night was all I wanted
Let me be your comet, I will fly

Summertime so sweet
Luxuries of childhood were on our feet

In the sun sun sun
Baby run run run
Baby run run run
Baby run run run

Games will be portrayed

But there we were looking out some country window
And although we had our problems, we were fine
The sky was blue and the night was all I wanted
Let me be your comet, I will fly

The sky was blue and the night was all I wanted
Let me be your comet, I will fly

I’ve been to Jacksonville
I’ve been to Monterrey
I’ve felt a mother’s love
I’ve seen the colors change
I’ve cried a million tears
I’ve caused a million more

I’ve been to Jacksonville

There we were looking out some country window
And although we had our problems, we were fine

This song has so much meaning. Especially the part where it says "And although we had our problems, we were fine". Everyone has problems, however, you still are and will remain fine. Parts that have meaning to me are bold. Too lazy to write anything else.

Wonderwall - Oasis

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwal
l

Today was gonna be the day?
But they'll never throw it back to you

By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

I don't ever think I've told you this but this is my most favourite song, ever.
