London Riots

Post by ponycrazy12 on Tue Aug 09, 2011 3:49 am

I just read an article on the bbc and apparently it's spreading across England o.o
The tubes have been re-opened but are being monitored by the police I think, there have been 200 masked youths in Liverpool wrecking havoc or something, cars being vandalised in Manchester, Sutton was closed down last night and a London-wide curfew is being considered. Bringing the army in isn't out of the question either.
and Cameron's had to come back early from his holiday! affraid Surprised how awful!~

Whatever the real reason was at the beggining doesn't really matter though does it? The rioting will make no difference whatsoever, apart from making it harder for the rest of the public.

edit: my 500th post Smile :L

Re: London Riots

Post by ponycrazy12 on Wed Aug 10, 2011 5:13 am

It's been happening where I live now, some cars been set on fire and stuff. I think it's moving more up north now because London was mainly quiet last night.
The shocking thing is that my dad realised from watching the news late at night, the looters are just kids our age! In Manchester they only looked 12-15.
And the reports of the police not doing anything, it's because they can't. There are laws preventing them from doing anything to the kids. They're protecting the shops and arresting them of course but they can't directly do anything.
The police have arrested something like 783 people now.
There isn't even a reason for it though! It isn't political, it's just chavs thieving and wreaking havoc. They being pretty stupid too, almost all of them have been caught on CCTV and they don't have much coverage over their faces so they can easily be identified.

I bet when the summer holidays are over the police will start searching the schools.

Different groups of people are doing it for different reasons.
Some just wanna trash stuff and take the mick.
Some are doing it cause of that guy.
Some just wanna nick stuff.
Then theres the ones that wanna prove a point. 'We wanna show the police that we can do what they like and were like taking it out on the rich people init' thats what some girls said.

On the rich people? Just because someone owns a shop doesn't mean they're rich. Look at this vid http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14464114 a century old family business has been totally burnt down. Another thing they burned was a Sony warehouse. In that warehouse were all of Sony's stock of the independant films, not the mainstream ones. They won't get those back from the insurance money.

also,
Cameron's revealed that

Police have permission to use rubber bullets if they want.

Water cannon are available if the police want to use them. "We now have in place contingency plans for water cannon to be available at 24 hours notice," he said.

Courts will carry on sitting overnight to deal with riots cases. More than 160 people have already been charged. "Courts sat through the night last night and will do again tonight," he said.

Photographs of rioters will continue to be published to allow them to be identified. "Major police operations are under way, as I speak, to arrest the criminals who were not picked up last night but who were picked up on close circuit television cameras," the prime minister said.

"Picture by picture, these criminals are being identified and arrested, and we will not let any phony concerns about human rights get in the way of the publication of these pictures and the arrest of these individuals."

Those involved in violence would be sent to prison, he said, adding: "It is for the courts to sentence, but I would expect anyone convicted of violent disorder to be sent to prison."

At least they're finally bringing out the water cannons :/

No one said "pray for Syria or Egypt", when everyone died there, but when some horny teenagers text each other and set buildings on fire it's all "pray for those guys ;("

Besides being mean, I hope those a**hats aren't around you British people neighbourhoods.

True, CD, but nothing's happened in England on this scale since the 1991 Poll Tax riots. And besides, don't we all hope for them in our heads anyway?

They're all rioting in my area. It's 2 streets away from me and they're smashing the shop windows and setting stuff on fire, the saddos. It's scary all the same, though. And you don't want me to be police - I'd just tazer the lot of them.

I couldn't agree more! We should pray for the whole Arab World 'cause there are lots of problems there, we should pray for Europe and the USA 'cause of the Debt Crisis, we should pray for East Africa where children are dying from poverty and hunger. And we should pray for London: I think we're all worried about London the most 'cause it's the last country we would've expected to get hurt that badly....
I hope everything goes back to normal :/

... Or those who really care about what the world has come to should get out of their bedroom and actually do something.

Anyways, about the riots, I'm sorry to hear they're smashing stuff next to your house, Imo. I hope you're going to be okay over there, gurl.

I believe the real issue here is how this might impact Reading Festival. I'm planning to watch it online as Muse is headlining on Sunday night. Hopefully I won't have to change those plans...
