Where the Wild Things Are
Do any of you guys plan on seeing it? I'm seeing it with my friends on Halloween; I never read the book as a kid, so I'm looking forward to it. People are saying that it's actually pretty good, contrary to what I first thought(it's supposed to be really symbolic and sad, not the average kids' movie).

It wasn't as good as I expected in the entertainment department. This movie is literally injected with symbolism. Once Max arrives on the island, you have to literally pay attention to every detail to fully appreciate the work of art that Spike Jonze has produced within this film. He takes his interpretation above and beyond the book, using the wild things to symbolize the different parts of Max's confused and frightened inner personality, as well as to play out parts of his life, from his parents' divorce, to his loneliness. Overall, I rate this movie 10/10, not necessarily for a great plot, but for the astounding message it conveys. It reminds us all that we were, as a child, or even are, filled with fear, loneliness, adventure, and probably even a wild thing. If you go to see this movie, don't go to be entertained. Go to be inspired.
